The village of Talloires :
Located on the eastern shore of Lake Annecy, the small town of Talloires sits at the foot of the Aravis mountains. “Goodness, isn’t it beautiful!” were Empress Eugenie’s [Napoleon III wife’s] words when she visited Talloires. The Bay of Talloires was painted by Paul Cézanne, and the Aga Khan, Winston Churchill and Richard Nixon all stayed here. Since then, Talloires has hung onto its natural, singular charms. Its old residences with their simple facades and steeply-sloping roofs supported by large colonnades give it a discrete and aristocratic character.
Coming to Talloires means falling in love with this haven of peace, where you can recharge your batteries whilst soaking up the charms of the place. For some people, coming to Talloires means embracing the numerous sports opportunities that are available here. There is no limit to the amount of activities you can take part in between the lake and the mountains – sub-aqua diving, sailing, hiking, paragliding, golf, tennis, horse riding, even treetop trails or canyoning.
At the end of August, the pyroconcerts in the Bay of Talloires are night-time musical shows accompanied by fireworks. A hauntingly beautiful and rapturous experience.
Only 50 km away from Geneva on the eastern shore of Lake Annecy, Talloires, which has been shaped by its history stretching back several centuries, is the perfect getaway for sports enthusiasts, lovers of fine dining, culture aficionados and people who just want space to reflect.
