The house is situated at the heights of La Roque sur Cèze, characteristic medieval village of about 200 inhabitants. In the village you will find some restaurants, for shopping you can go to Bagnols sur Cèze (12 km) or Goudargues (8 km).
The village is built on a rock and offers a gorgeous view at the Cascades of Sautadet classified as a "Zone Naturelle". The rocks are 5 million years old. The village’s castle and chapel overview the valley. You can still see the former city defending walls, and the medieval bridge crossing the River Cèze with 11 arches is classified as an historic sight.
Founded in the 11th century, La Roque-Sur-Cèze is a picturesque stone village perched on the side of a wooded hill facing south over the valley of the River Cèze. Beautiful views, sunshine, peace and quiet make La Roque a perfect refuge and centre for exploring the local area: the Ardèche, Nîmes, Avignon and the Popes Palace, Uzès, Pont du Gard, Pont-St. Esprit and the vineyards of Languedoc-Roussillon, Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Activities include wine tasting, local markets, visiting historical sites, antique collecting, birdwatching, walking, climbing, paragliding, kayaking, horse riding, cycling, fishing, and swimming in the River Cèze.
The Auberge opposite has a great restaurant with "Cuisine Artisanale" in the Provence style which can be enjoyed on the terrace with panoramic views of the surrounding hills.
In 1958 the village was added to the inventory of historic sites of France, and in 1993 the Cascades of Sautadet were classified as a "Zone Naturelle".
La Roque is listed by the French Government as one of the most beautiful villages in France.
